• Kali, dangerously badass-sexy as Shaft meets Cleopatra Jones;
• Shiva, soulful snake-headed club DJ, spinning the end-of-the-world trance;
• Hanuman the monkey god incarnate as mischievously innocent ’50s cartoon;
• Lakshmi, gracious and regal as Audrey Hepburn cruising down Hollywood boulevard.

The sagging wine-coloured satin of a long-decayed palace, baroquely patterned with foliage, flowers and populated with tiny medieval demons. Suitable for guitar or heavy metal electric lute.

This acoustic guitar case is inspired by the gorgeous look of a well-loved and much battered vintage guitar, rich flamed maple and varnish darkened by age and scarred by countless belt buckles. As we all know, guitars like this just sound the best.

It was a long, hard gig, not that you remember a thing about it. Your eyes flutter open as a cold wind blasts down the alley. It’s dark-thirty, your ears still ringing and as you raise your face from the stained asphalt in front of the club. Oh yeah, living the rock and roll dream…

This guitar case design was inspired by World War II armored aircraft. Though it looks like the side of a bomber, it’s actually not a photo at all, but purely a Photoshop creation. The number 42 is an inside joke… get it? Get it?

These three hands are familiar to any child who knows the RIGHT way to settle the problem of “who gets the front seat”: Rock, Paper, Scissors. This playful multi-part label for industry upstarts Roshambo Winery identifies their line of affordable table wines, known simply as “Red” and “White”.

I’m proud to report that this label was selected for inclusion in Unique Packaging, a glossy visual sourcebook featuring the best in international packaging design. Check out page 168!

The illustrations stamped into this series of wine labels feature the combatants in an ancient child’s game: Rock, Paper, Scissors. As the source of Roshambo Winery’s playful name, these three elemental icons have been pressed into service to distinguish Roshambo’s line of higher-end wines.

With embossed, foil-stamped, and die-cut labels, these wines are high-falutin’ enough to be known by their initials alone: RPS.

Roaring out of the Pacific Ocean into the pale light of a sickle moon — it’s the Night Rider (supply your own citizenry-terrifying folkloric explanation here). And what would a svelte apparition such as this ride? A Harley Fat Boy, of course.

Introduced in an ad, then rolled out in a series of posters, T-shirts and hoodies, the Night Rider has become the unofficial mascot of Santa Cruz Harley-Davidson.

Roxie! The second of Santa Cruz Harley’s two stylized pinup girls, and the tougher of the pair. These two vintage motorcycle lovers were created for the Santa Cruz Harley dealership. Like Veronica, Roxie was introduced through a print ad, then brought to T-shirts

These illustrations combine digital technology with old-fashioned pencil lead; a loose graphite sketch itself is scanned, edited and careful colorized to produce the final result.

Why “Roxie”? Well, much like Veronica …

Veronica! The first of a pair of stylized pinup girls astride vintage motorcycles, both created for the Santa Cruz Harley dealership. She made her debut in a print advertisement, but popular demand soon brought her to T-shirts.
